Even twenty five years after Mount St. Helens eruption leveled 200 square miles of heavy forest the
devastation remains evident. This photo was taken from Castle Lake Overlook on Highway 504 past the
Forest Learning Center by J. Shepard. You are looking at 25 square miles that was blasted flat by the
1980 eruption.
